A pretty simple day really. Just a lot of miles, like 661 for the day and that brings the trip total up to just over 4000 miles. In 10 days (so far.)

Pre-sunrise cdeparture
I got an early start. Even before sunrise as you can see. The routing was simple enough for even me to remember - North on I-75, then West on I-10. That's it.

Fog and Mist keeps you on your toes!
After the sun rose above the horizon there were some pretty good patches of fog and mist.
|
Rain gear on. Rain gear off. Rain gear on, again. And so it goes.
That, later, turned to the (now normal) rain showers which took me in and out of rain togs several times over a period of hours. Nonetheless I made good progress, banging out over 100 miles before 9AM and over 300 before noon.
I was glad to finally get out of Florida as it seemed I had been there forever. Not forever actually but 3 complete days and over 1000 miles without ever leaving the state. No offense but adios!

Sweet Home Alabama
Following the seemingly interminable miles through Florida, it was a welcome pleasure to blast right on through Alabama and Mississippi in but a few hours and finally land in Louisiana for the night.
The best pics of the day would seem to be the action shots while riding through the bayou areas and also when crossing the Mississippi River, so here ya go.

Across the Missippi at Baton Rouge, LA.

The Bayou. Here be snakes, gators, and such.

That's it for today. After 11 hours on the bike I'd say that's really enough for one day. Tomorrow a turn to the Northwest a bit and on up through Shreveport and Dallas to an overnight in Wichita Falls, TX. Saturday's destination is Albuquerque and Sunday will (hopefully) find me in Phoenix. The West Coast beckons for all of next week! Still rolling (and still taking donations for The Austin Hatcher Foundation - go ahead, click on that "Donate" button over on the top right, by this post's title!)
